Automotive Service Technician

Malone's Garage is seeking a skilled Automotive Service Technician to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the timely completion of assigned repair, warranty, and preventive maintenance service on automobiles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review service orders and inspect vehicles for additional repairs or malfunctions.
- Apply technical knowledge to diagnose the cause of vehicle malfunctions.
- Obtain final approval prior to performing additional repairs.
- Respond to repair inquiries in a prompt manner.
- Perform repairs and maintenance service work requested in accordance with approved quality and efficiency standards.
- Enter customer and service information on computer in an accurate manner.
- Maintain neat and clean work areas at all times.
- Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with training and safety procedures.
- Retain and tag removed parts under warranty for return to manufacturer.
- Test-drive and assure proper operation of all vehicles in accordance with Department of Motor Vehicle standards.
- Complete vehicle inspections according to established procedures.
- Complete service-related paperwork in detail and legible format.
- Discard residual waste or hazardous materials using the proper disposal methods.
- Communicate with customers in a professional manner.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license with wrecker endorsement.
- ASE certification (preferred).
- New York State inspection license.
Equipment:
- TPMS Sensor.
- Creeper.
- Pneumatic and hand tools.
- Brake lathes.
- Tire mounting, balancing, and alignment machines.
- Pressure washer.
- Hydraulic jacks.
- Welding equipment.
- Vehicle lifts.
- Diagnostic equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
- Oral communication skills.
- Time management.
- Customer relations.
- Computer literacy.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to taste or smell.
- Occasionally required to sit, and climb or balance.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
