Job Summary

Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, this role will perform radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. The successful candidate will operate radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images of the body, ensuring optimal diagnostic quality of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimal views of specified body areas
  • Determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, and body area
  • Operate mobile radiologic equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms, or at patient bedsides
  • Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations
  • Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians
  • Process images and review for proper identification and quality control
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff
  • Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed
  • Orient new staff and train students
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California)
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California)
  • Basic Life Support
  • Ability to perform all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties as determined by the employer
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
