About the Opportunity

Norton Children's Rheumatology, in partnership with the University of Louisville School of Medicine, is seeking a visionary leader to serve as Division Chief of Pediatric Rheumatology. This esteemed position plays a pivotal role in advancing pediatric rheumatology care, education, and research within our institution.

About Norton Children's Rheumatology

  • We have a team of three pediatric rheumatologists with over two decades of clinical experience.
  • We provide comprehensive care to patients from Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Southern Illinois, representing a diverse range of cultures.
  • We utilize cutting-edge technologies, including a new MSK Ultrasound machine, to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • We are developing a multi-disciplinary lupus clinic in collaboration with our Hepatology and Nephrology teams.
  • We work closely with pain psychology, pediatric behavioral and mental health, neuro immunology, and our growing pediatric gastroenterology team.

About the UofL School of Medicine Division of Pediatric Rheumatology

  • We collaborate with Adult Rheumatology and the Internal Medicine Fellowship program.
  • We have a dedicated clinical research support staff who assist with grant contracting and construction.
  • We engage in the education of future pediatricians, with a program that includes 72 categorical pediatric residents, 15 child neurology residents, and 20 Med/Peds residents and 35 Fellows.
  • We are actively involved with the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) and Pediatric Rheumatology Collaborative Study Group (PRCSG).

The University of Louisville School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics Division of Pediatric Rheumatology has a long history of collaboration with Norton Children's Hospital, working together to care for patients, train the next generation of pediatricians, conduct research, and innovate in the field of child health for nearly 100 years. As we look to the future, we aim to:

  • Be the region's most comprehensive and preferred healthcare system for pediatric patients from infancy to young adulthood.
  • Train tomorrow's pediatric healthcare providers and leaders.
  • Translate clinical research into state-of-the-art bedside care.
  • Promote healthy families through advocacy and community engagement.

About the Position

  • The new chief will join a growing team of experienced clinicians and staff dedicated to leveraging clinical care and research to meet the needs of a diverse patient population.
  • The ideal candidate should demonstrate a capability for clinical or bench research and be interested in ongoing clinical activity.
  • The candidate should engage in multidisciplinary collaborations with a variety of ongoing and upcoming programs.
  • The division chief is expected to guide junior faculty and trainees in their career development, foster growth in clinical areas, expand scholarship, and establish an affirmative, positive working environment that leads to retention, in which all team members can thrive.
  • The position provides a competitive salary and academic rank commensurate with experience.
  • The selected candidate will work in a collaborative environment with institutional support that ensures access to resources needed to succeed in advancing pediatric rheumatology care and research at both local and national levels.

  • Residency/fellowship certification
  • Kentucky medical license or license eligible
