Industrial Engineer

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking highly motivated and talented students to join our Industrial Engineering team as Summer Interns. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the defense industry and work alongside expert engineers on cutting-edge projects.
Job Summary:
The Industrial Engineering Organization provides mission-critical support to EB leadership and functional organizations by developing and managing improvement strategies, executing improvement initiatives, mentoring employees, and measuring the impact of improvement activities.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Design Build, Operations, and Ship's Management to optimize the build plan and identify improvements in construction flow, layout, facilities, and trade-specific levels.
- Facilitate creation of Work Center playbooks by coordinating with applicable Trades and Operations Leadership.
- Partner with Detail Planning and Advance Planning for constant refinement of work scopes at key event, activity, and work order levels.
- Socialize with multiple organizations throughout Work Center design and development.
- Support Work Center execution for Columbia construction, partnering with Operations, Ship's Management, and Planning to ensure successful completion of work within the Work Center.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- US citizenship is required.
- Must be able to successfully pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check.
- Must be enrolled full-time at a college or university.
- At minimum, students must have completed their Freshman year prior to the start of the internship.
- Must be available to work 40 hours per week for a minimum eight (8) consecutive weeks between May 2025 to September 2025.
- Selected candidates will be responsible for establishing housing and reliable transportation for the duration of their intern assignment.
- Pursuing a Bachelor or Master's of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering or any other Engineering disciplines.
