Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Tax Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our payroll department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with multi-state payroll tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and distribute payroll tax-related documents with Ceridian to ensure compliance in multi-state payroll reporting and tax payments.
  • Review payroll tax fallout reports for accuracy, complete POAs, and register for payroll tax accounts as needed.
  • Research delinquent payroll tax filings and resolve with Ceridian and the agencies as needed.
  • Identify government reporting regulations impacting payroll and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and wage and hour laws.
  • Obtain online accounts for all active jurisdictions and ensure state agencies' websites are current with company changes.
  • Reconcile payroll tax accounts quarterly.
  • Analyze, validate, and correct variances on quarterly tax filings.
  • Review weekly payroll reports to ensure cash flow is accurate.
  • Review tax setup for new hires and employee changes.
  • Complete payroll tax audits (e.g., virtual/hybrid workers, year-end zero reporting, etc.).
  • Assist with W2 and W2-C reporting.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to the payroll tax processes.
  • Assist with employee tax issues.
  • Update SUI rate changes as needed.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience in multi-state payroll tax role.
  • Familiarity with an HRIS system or similar large database.
  • Strong capability with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Outlook.
  • Experience with Ceridian Tax Services is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Leadership Skills

  • Ability to exercise extreme confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, consistent, and reliable with follow-through.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
