Associate Director of Laboratory Operations

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead the administrative operations of the Department of Pathology and Clinical Laboratories at NYU Langone Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and managing all aspects of the day-to-day administrative operations, including supervising non-technical administrative support positions, developing and implementing administrative procedures and policies, and ensuring the provision of high-quality and cost-effective administrative services.
Key Responsibilities- Directly supervise management and supervisory staff, including assigning responsibilities, establishing work hours and staffing schedules, and monitoring staffing and payroll.
- Develop, implement, and maintain systems for ensuring effective administrative operations, including ensuring all administrative procedures and policies are developed, maintained, and enforced.
- Manage all administrative support related to courier services, GRM records, and microscopes, and work with the corporate sourcing team to manage vendor work product outcomes and impact to operations.
- Manage facility support, including coordination and notification of impacts for all labs as it relates to facility moves or planned outages.
- Manage and establish standardization of send-out testing operations for all laboratory locations.
- Directly manage the main campus lab coordinating council and partner with system-wide coordinating councils.
- Manage NYU Pathology website content maintenance as it relates to laboratory services.
- Participate in project management and business analytics for the department as needed.
- Participate in cost control and fiscal planning to ensure that the most effective method of delivering quality administrative services is implemented.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory with management responsibilities.
- Knowledge of all areas of anatomic and clinical pathology.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Masters degree in management, business, public health, laboratory sciences, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting with management responsibilities.
- NYS Clinical Laboratory Licensure.
- ASCP Certification.
