Medical Laboratory Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Director to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical operations of the Medical Genetics Laboratory, including pre-and post-analytical functions.
Key Responsibilities- Assume responsibility for effective planning, organization, direction, and coordination of technical operations of the Medical Genetics Laboratory.
- Work with the Genetics Division Medical Director to develop and implement technical policies, systems, and procedures for the Medical Genetics Laboratory.
- Participate in the development and structure of the Medical Genetics Laboratory's technical objectives and assist in the development of specific short-term and long-range plans and programs.
- Establish and monitor all technical methods, processes, and procedures, and ensure the validity, accuracy, and analysis of all tests performed within the Medical Genetics Laboratory.
- Participate in proficiency surveys to evaluate the Medical Genetics Laboratory's performance and conduct continuing assessments of test procedures to determine appropriate changes to improve quality, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency.
- PhD in Life Science relevant to Biochemical Genetics, e.g., Biochemistry, Genetics, etc.
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory, including administrative and managerial experience in technical activities.
- Board certification or Active Candidacy by the American Board of Medical Genetics in Clinical Biochemical Genetics, Clinical Genetics, Clinical Cytogenetic, or Clinical Molecular Genetics.
