Position Overview:

As a Firefighter EMT, you will operate under general supervision to carry out essential duties related to fire prevention, emergency response, and medical assistance. Your role is crucial in safeguarding lives and property through effective fire suppression and emergency medical services.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement:
  • Conduct inspections for fire safety and home safety.
  • Educate the public by providing information, installing smoke detectors, and participating in community outreach programs.
  • Engage cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with representatives from various city departments and agencies.
Fire Suppression Duties:
  • Respond to emergency fire alarms and assist in extinguishing fires across various environments.
  • Utilize fire equipment and apparatus effectively during emergency situations.
  • Document firefighting actions and rescue operations in detailed reports.
Emergency Medical Services:
  • Evaluate emergency medical situations and provide appropriate care.
  • Administer both emergency and non-emergency medical procedures.
  • Transfer patients to medical facilities while ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient care in compliance with established protocols.
Communication:
  • Utilize portable radios for effective communication during emergencies.
  • Ensure all communications are conducted professionally.
Maintenance Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine inspections of vehicles and equipment.
  • Report any discrepancies to the on-duty supervisor.
Training and Compliance:
  • Participate in mandatory training sessions, including live drills and skills maintenance.
  • Adhere to compliance policies and complete all required training within specified timeframes.
Qualifications:
  • State certification as a Firefighter and EMT.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
