Product Innovation Lead

Element6's client is in search of a Product Innovation Lead to spearhead their engineering initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This role is pivotal in steering the development and implementation of novel product strategies. The Product Innovation Lead will manage interdisciplinary teams throughout the complete product development process, from initial concept to final production, ensuring timely and budget-conscious project completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Craft and oversee product roadmaps for designated product categories.
- Guide and mentor cross-disciplinary teams of engineers, designers, and technicians throughout the product development process.
- Convert customer requirements and market insights into innovative and feasible product designs.
- Guarantee that final product designs align with both business unit and customer expectations.
- Promote the application of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies to enhance product design, quality, safety, and manufacturability.
- Conduct comprehensive design evaluations and analyses, including Design of Experiments (DOE) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Identify and execute cost-saving strategies consistent with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Manage vendor relationships and facilitate the integration of emerging technologies into product designs.
- Establish, communicate, and uphold project timelines and financial plans.
- Prepare and present technical documentation and reports to convey product concepts and development progress.
Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities.
- Proficient in project management and scheduling software.
- Deep knowledge of product design and development practices.
- Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Capacity to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration and relationship-building with diverse teams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
- 8+ years of experience leading cross-functional engineering teams in a product development context.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and development of refrigeration systems for commercial food service equipment is advantageous.
- Black Belt or Master Black Belt Six Sigma Certification (or equivalent) is preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred.
- Strong grasp of DFSS methodologies and their practical application in product development.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Able to manage multiple projects concurrently while adhering to deadlines.
