Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Instructor to join our team at Alternative Services - Connecticut, Inc. As a Residential Instructor, you will play a vital role in providing daily support and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and implement consumer behavior management programs, documenting all activities and incidents in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations and DDS contracts.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for consumers, conducting regular sanitation and safety inspections.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to promote consumer independence, self-advocacy, and community integration.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support for consumers.
  • Document all consumer interactions, including progress notes, incident reports, and medication administration records.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as crisis intervention, behavioral support, and medication administration.
  • Assist with daily living tasks, such as meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry, as needed.
  • Provide transportation for consumers to community activities, appointments, and social events.
  • Respond to emergencies and crises, following established protocols and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain Agency insurance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with consumers, families, and staff.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and physically intervene with consumers as needed.
  • Certifications in CPR, First Aid, PMT, and DDS State Medication Administration required.
Accountability

The Residential Instructor is directly accountable to the Residential Manager or designee.
