Position Overview:

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering within the College of Engineering, Design and Computing at the University of Colorado Denver is seeking applications for a non-tenure track faculty role at the level of Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Assistant Teaching Professor. The primary focus of this position is to design and deliver courses in the undergraduate Cybersecurity curriculum.

The selected candidate will engage in scholarly research relevant to their specialization, ensuring they remain informed about the dynamic developments in the field. They will also play a crucial role in fostering the academic growth of students through mentorship and oversight of student projects. Teaching responsibilities may encompass online, evening, and Friday classes.

In addition to instructing established courses, the individual will contribute to the creation of new offerings for the Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, enhancing and expanding the curriculum. Potential areas for new course development include ethical hacking, risk management, secure systems, secure software engineering, and cyber law and policies. This new degree program is designed to address the pressing demand for proficient cybersecurity professionals across various sectors including business, industry, healthcare, and government.

The department features specialized research laboratories focused on graphics & VR/AR, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), Active Cyber Infrastructure and Defense (ACID), Theory and Algorithms, Machine Learning (ML), networks (DECENT), Big Data Management and Mining Laboratory (BDLab), Mobile and Pervasive Systems Lab (MAPS Lab), and Parallel and Distributed Systems (PDS).

This is an open-rank position with the following required qualifications:

Assistant Teaching Professor

  • PhD in Computer Science, Computer Science and Engineering, or a closely related field with a focus on Cybersecurity.

Instructor or Senior Instructor:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Science and Engineering, or a closely related field with relevant study and experience in Cybersecurity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest in teaching undergraduate courses.
  • Commitment to mentoring and supervising undergraduate student projects.
  • Experience in advising and mentoring students.
  • Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Experience in program and course development.
  • Research experience in Cybersecurity, Secure Computing, or a related area.

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is as follows:

  • Instructor: $60,000 - $80,000
  • Senior Instructor: $60,000 - $80,000
  • Assistant Teaching Professor: $70,000 - $100,000

This salary range represents the University's good faith estimate of the compensation range at the time of posting. The position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
