Position Title: IT Support and Cybersecurity Instructional Assistant

Location: Hybrid

Reports To: Director of Technical Instruction

Who We're Looking For

Per Scholas is in search of a motivated, team-oriented individual to take on the role of Instructional Assistant (IA) within the Denver Training Department. The IA will be instrumental in supporting the lead instructor in delivering training to Per Scholas students in IT Support and Cybersecurity Fundamentals.
What You'll Do
Overall Focus:
  • Assist the lead instructor in both classroom and administrative tasks related to IT Support and Cybersecurity Fundamentals courses.
  • Support instructor-led training designed to prepare students for entry-level to mid-level positions in IT Support and Cybersecurity.
  • Work closely with the lead instructor to assess student needs, provide necessary assistance, and develop personalized plans for student success.
In-Class Responsibilities:
  • Monitor class progress, ensuring the overall functionality of audio, video, and screen presentations.
  • Act as a timekeeper during class sessions and monitor breaks.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Assist students during assessments and group activities.
  • Document challenges encountered during class, including student engagement and participation levels.
Out-of-Class Responsibilities:
  • Assist with grading assignments, class projects, and other educational materials.
  • Help maintain and update student records in Salesforce and/or LMS with grades, certification scores, and progress notes.
  • Support the preparation and upkeep of training materials, syllabi, and lesson plans.
  • Collaborate with Learner Success and Talent Solutions teams to enhance career readiness and job placement.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings to provide updates on classroom and learner progress.
What You'll Bring to Us
Required Skills:
  • CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware ESXI, VirtualBox, Hyper-V)
  • Understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, and user profile management
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN, routing configuration, and switching
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including the functions of a Security Operations Center
  • Ability to convey technical concepts clearly to students
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
Preferred Skills:
  • CompTIA Security+ and/or CYSA+ Certification
  • CompTIA Network+ Certification or working towards CCNA
  • Google IT Certification
  • Cloud Certification (AWS, Azure, GCP) or strong familiarity with cloud platforms
  • Windows Certification or working knowledge of related areas
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems
  • Understanding of AI tools and their application in IT support workflows
  • Basic experience with MS Server, SCCM/WSUS, and Patch Management
  • General understanding of Office 365 administration
  • Knowledge of performance monitoring and metrics
  • Familiarity with remote administration tools
Professional Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in IT or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 0-2 years of teaching, training, or tutoring experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with office productivity tools
