Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced farm laborer to join our team at Bowman Orchards. As a farm laborer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks related to the planting, cultivating, and harvesting of apples, peaches, berries, pumpkins, and squash.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform manual tasks such as tilling soil, picking stones, transplanting, weeding, hand thinning, tree training and pruning.
  • Clean, sort, pack, and load harvested products in the field and level and load products to be transported.
  • Operate hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, hand saws, and knives.
  • Perform other farm-related duties as needed, such as mending fences, repairing and painting farm buildings, operating tractors and farm equipment, applying pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers to crops, participating in irrigation activities, and repairing and maintaining farm vehicles.
  • Operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers, haul tools and supplies, and transport workers to and from the grocery store, bank, and western union as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three months of verifiable experience in farm laboring.
  • Ability to work in varied weather conditions with temperatures from below 0 to 90+ degrees (F) with possible wet mornings.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to handle and climb ladders to harvest apples.
  • Proficient English language comprehension to maintain Federal food safety regulations, pesticide application safety, and safe operation of farm equipment.
