Job Summary

The Dietary Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Dietary Department, ensuring quality food service, and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily activities and staff to ensure efficient food service.
  • Provide supervision and training to nutrition service personnel.
  • Monitor department activities and personnel performance.
  • Ensure adherence to sanitation and safety practices.
  • Schedule staff according to workload.
  • Interview and hire qualified staff.
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide counseling.
  • Encourage teamwork and quality service.
  • Track meal count statistics and develop budget reports.
  • Participate in professional growth and development activities.
Requirements
  • Education: High school degree or equivalent preferred; associate degree in nutritional science or food science preferred.
  • Required Licenses: Valid Food Handlers Certificate; Food Protection Manager certificate from Serve Safe or other ANSI-accredited training preferred; Registered Dietician preferred.
  • Experience: Five years of experience in all phases of food service required; two years of management experience required; prior experience in hospital food service preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Must have skills in maintaining confidential information.
  • Screening: Must pass background check, drug screen, physical, and provide positive employment references.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to perform tasks that require standing, walking, lifting, and moving objects (up to 50 lbs); must be able to express or exchange ideas orally and visually detect and determine the nature of sound.
