Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Lead Teacher to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing classroom activities for children in our before and after school programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead daily lesson plans to ensure a safe and engaging environment for children
  • Organize and participate in games and activities to promote socialization and learning
  • Provide weekly lesson plans to parents and maintain records of attendance and arrival/departure times
  • Supervise children at all times and maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences at least annually to discuss child's progress
  • Maintain the quality and quantity of supplies, equipment, and materials in the classroom
Requirements
  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college in a youth development related field, or current enrollment in degree program
  • Six months to one year of youth development related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability and desire to work with school-age children

Compensation

$16.43 - $20.54 per hour, non-exempt, part-time (up to 25 hours/week)

This position offers a $2/hour shift premium for staff who work both before school program hours and after school program hours in the same day.
