Position Overview

Since its inception, our expansive facility is equipped to significantly increase production capacity, currently capable of generating over 1 billion grids annually for automotive battery applications. We utilize a cutting-edge approach to lead casting, employing a precise punching technique to guarantee quality and minimize grid variability.

The Equipment Maintenance Specialist role offers a competitive starting wage. In this position, you will be responsible for machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and delivering preventive maintenance services. As you develop electrical and PLC skills, there are opportunities for advancement to higher pay grades as a Tech II or Tech III. This role emphasizes teamwork, collaborating with fellow maintenance technicians and operators on the manufacturing floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct emergency and unscheduled repairs on production equipment during operations and perform scheduled maintenance during service periods.
  • Prepare and configure machinery for planned production runs.
  • Utilize mechanical skills and possess familiarity with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machinery.
  • Diagnose issues, replace or repair components, conduct tests, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Execute regular preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure.
  • Perform various plumbing maintenance and carpentry tasks.
  • Employ a range of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in the execution of duties.
  • Interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and services.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Engage in training and development programs covering environmental, health, and safety topics, particularly those related to hazardous materials and waste management.
  • Handle scrap materials and disposable protective clothing containing lead, ensuring proper disposal in designated hazardous waste containers.
  • Follow health and safety protocols relevant to the work area and facility.
  • Perform necessary housekeeping tasks as required.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • Achieve a satisfactory score on the pre-employment assessment.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, industrial settings, or military service.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; an AA degree in mechanical or industrial maintenance is advantageous.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience as an automotive technician, from technical/trade school, construction, plumbing, or factory work is applicable (familiarity with basic hand and power tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, drills, grinders, etc. is expected).
  • Must demonstrate high motivation and the ability to work independently.
