Job Title: Student Engagement and Leadership Professional
About the Role:
The Residential Engagement Coordinator plays a crucial role in advising and overseeing student leadership organizations, as well as creating and managing social and educational engagement opportunities for University Housing Services students.
Key Responsibilities- Social and Educational Initiatives: Develop, promote, and implement various initiatives under the Residential Curriculum Model to engage students.
- Student Organization Support: Advise the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), ensuring their smooth operation.
- Leadership Development: Plan and facilitate training sessions for RHA members, promoting ongoing leadership development for student leaders across different groups.
- Event Planning: Coordinate large-scale events like Weeks of Welcome, Homecoming, Parent & Family Weekend, Spartan Speakers Series, Admitted Spartans Day, and other signature campus events.
- Inventories and Resources: Organize and maintain programming resources and supplies.
- Presentation Skills: Create, maintain, and promote engagement calendars to foster community presence and connections with residents.
- Degree: Equivalent to a four-year college or university degree in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution.
- Work Experience: Three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. A master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
- Master's Degree: In Student Affairs, Education, Counseling, or a related field.
- Leadership Program Development: Experience developing and implementing leadership programs.
- Supervision Experience: Supervisory experience in student conduct or judicial affairs.
This is a full-time position with an anticipated hiring range of $52,760 annually. San Jose State University offers employees comprehensive benefits, typically valued at 30-35% of base salary.
