Licensed Social Worker Foster Care Specialist

Job Summary:
New Directions Youth and Family Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Social Worker to join our Foster Care team. As a Licensed Social Worker Foster Care, you will provide critical support to families and children in need, working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to deliver individualized care plans and services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide social work support to families and children, including individual and family services.
- Work effectively with clients, families, staff, and community contacts from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Develop and maintain community resources and informal supports to meet the needs of families within their cultural and community context.
- Collaborate with the child and family team to seek community resources and refer families and clients to community organizations.
- Empower families to manage their own lives post-discharge, teaching them skills to marshal resources and advocate for themselves when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, including case records, written reports, and assessments.
- Provide treatment as indicated in the Service Plan, including family and individual work.
- Attend court hearings and provide reports, assessments, and recommendations to referral agencies.
- Participate in professional development, including clinical supervision, reading, and training.
- Serve as a liaison and ambassador for the agency and the community.
- Advocate for families and youth consistent with the ethics of social work.
Requirements:
- LMSW Social Work or related field, and one year of experience working with youth/families at risk.
- Experience in the provision of individual, family, and group services to adolescents and their families.
- Commitment to development of community resources and informal supports designed to meet the needs of families within their own cultural and community context.
