Executive Director Job Opportunity at California State University

We are seeking a highly qualified Executive Director to lead our civic education and public policy research efforts at the Pat Brown Institute. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to make a meaningful impact in the field of community engagement and participation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for administrative and fiscal management, long-term planning, and fostering partnerships with public, private, and community sectors. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing strategies for civic education and public policy research
  • Building and maintaining relationships with university partners, community organizations, and stakeholders
  • Ensuring alignment with Cal State LA's mission and values

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's or Ph.D. in political science, public policy, public affairs, or applied social science research
  • Significant experience in public policy and public affairs, with progressive growth in responsibilities
  • Expertise in California and Los Angeles policies, politics, and corporate/foundation environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Administrative experience in a university environment
  • Understanding of and experience with community-based organizations and nonprofits

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications, with an estimated range of $6,563 - $21,066 monthly. A comprehensive benefits package is provided. We strive to maintain a diverse and inclusive work environment and welcome applicants from underrepresented groups.
