Job Summary

As the Information Systems Manager for the City of Burien, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the city's information, geographic, and voice communication systems. This role requires a strategic thinker who can oversee critical functions, including network, data, security, GIS, and multimedia, to ensure smooth operations across the city's technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop the city's information systems, including network, data, security, GIS, and multimedia.
  • Oversee the city's technology planning and implementation, including strategic analysis and systems analysis.
  • Prepare and monitor the Information Systems Division biennial operating budget and six-year technology plan.
  • Establish and maintain city-wide policies and standards for hardware, software, and data.
  • Procure and manage technology services and equipment, including software licensing agreements.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel and assist in selecting new employees.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery and technology continuity plans.
  • Provide technical consulting and training to city staff on operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Monitor and adjust the performance of existing networks and continually survey the current infrastructure to determine future network needs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, and five years of increasingly responsible information systems management experience, including three years in a supervisory capacity. Experience operating and maintaining a computer network with at least 100 users is preferred.
