About the Role

As a Health Information Management Representative with CommonSpirit Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of patient health information. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, intake, scan, index, and quality control patient health and administrative information using an electronic medical records (EMR) system and/or release of information (ROI) functions.
  • Work in compliance with established policies, procedures, and Federal and State regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Follow proper channels of communication in handling daily and routine problems and recognizing issues that need escalation to management.
  • Apply knowledge of privacy/confidentiality practices, medical terminology, and applicable State and Federal laws to ensure accurate and secure handling of patient information.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers.
Requirements
  • One year of work experience in healthcare, release of information, or office setting.
  • Completion of a medical record technology program or medical terminology and/or basic computer application courses is preferred.
