Job Overview:
The Rehabilitation Support Specialist aids in facilitating age-appropriate activities for pediatric patients.
In this role, you will support the Occupational and Physical Therapists by providing therapeutic interventions such as:
strengthening exercises, range of motion activities, massage, patient positioning, gait training, transfers, application and removal of splints/devices, and hot/cold pack treatments.
This position also involves assisting with the inventory and procurement of departmental supplies, as well as maintaining cleanliness for infection control purposes.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the preparation of equipment, patient transport, and supports patient treatment programs under the guidance of a therapist.
- Responsible for aiding therapists with non-direct patient care tasks that enhance the patients' individualized treatment experience (e.g., setting up and locating equipment, sending faxes, making phone calls, requesting orders as necessary, etc.).
- Ensures that all equipment and supplies are organized, readily available, and accessible in both treatment and storage areas.
- Maintains an inventory of frequently used supplies/equipment and places orders for additional stock as required.
- Responsible for routinely cleaning treatment areas (including toys) and equipment; will accurately document the cleaning of departmental equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and hospital policies.
- Greets patients, families, and visitors promptly, and informs the therapist of the patient's arrival.
- Must be willing to learn and perform basic maintenance and adjustments on equipment such as walkers, gait trainers, standers, and wheelchairs.

Experience
1 year of experience in rehabilitation or therapy preferred
