Overview

Under general supervision, this role involves overseeing children to enhance their physical, cognitive, and social growth. The educator will actively engage in on-floor program activities with children, ensuring the implementation of age-appropriate activities that foster development. Collaboration with other teaching team members and communication with parents regarding each child's progress is essential. A safe and nurturing environment for all children is a top priority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Encourages cooperative interactions through various group and individual activities, aiding children in building positive relationships with peers and adults.
  • Supervises activities including field trips, group discussions, and dramatic play, enhancing children's understanding of their physical and social surroundings.
  • Promotes self-expression and appreciation of the arts through singing, dancing, and art projects, while also supporting gross and fine motor skill development tailored to each child's needs.
  • Teaches children about hygiene and self-care practices.
  • Balances vigorous activities with periods of rest to prevent overstimulation and fatigue.
  • Monitors children's health and emotional well-being, assessing their development regularly.
  • Maintains communication with parents regarding significant behaviors observed in children.
  • Records and documents important behaviors and incidents accurately, including health and behavioral issues.
  • Capable of observing and responding to children's needs throughout the center and during off-site activities.
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds from floor to waist level multiple times throughout the day.
  • Responds promptly to children's needs from a distance of 30 feet within a safe timeframe.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Completion of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education (ECE), including Core units, along with 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: A combination of education and experience equivalent to a four-year degree in Child Development or a related field, including Core units, plus 2 years of experience.

Core Units Include: Child Development; Child, Family, Community; Curriculum

Additional Requirements
  • Vaccination for measles and pertussis is mandatory; annual flu vaccine or signed declination form required; TB testing upon hire.
  • Completion of a pre-employment physical is necessary.
  • Fingerprint background clearance check must be passed.
