Job Title: Preschool Teacher | Preschool Program

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Preschool Teacher to join our team at Palo Alto Community Child Care. As a Preschool Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a safe and engaging learning environment for our 2-year-old students. You will work closely with the Center Director and other members of the teaching team to implement the curriculum and assess the development of each child.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster cooperative behavior among children through various activities and projects.
  • Supervise activities such as field visits, group discussions, and dramatic play-acting to broaden the understanding of their physical and social environment.
  • Encourage students in singing, dancing, and participating in rhythmic activities to promote self-expression and relationships.
  • Instruct children in practices of cleanliness and self-care.
  • Alternate periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or light activity to avoid over-stimulation and fatigue.
  • Observe children to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and evaluate their progress.
  • Communicate with parents the significant behaviors of the children by observing and recording actions.
  • Document each incident of injury on the Injury Chart and document health and behavior issues.

Requirements:

  • Completion of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education (ECE), including Core units, plus 2 years of experience.
  • Must be vaccinated for measles and pertussis; must obtain annual flu vaccine or provide a signed declination form; must be tested for TB upon hire.
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Must complete and pass a fingerprint background clearance check.
