Job Title: Closing Infant/Toddler/Two's Teacher

Governors State University is seeking a qualified Closing Infant/Toddler/Two's Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will have the responsibility to implement a developmentally appropriate program for Early Head Start children in a mixed-age classroom.

Job Summary

The Closing Infant/Toddler/Two's Teacher will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum that meets the individual needs of children aged 6 weeks to 3 years. The teacher will work in conjunction with the Education Director to create lesson plans that integrate all aspects of Early Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC standards, and Illinois Day Care Regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement a developmentally appropriate program for Early Head Start children in a mixed-age classroom
  • Design and implement a comprehensive curriculum that meets the individual needs of children aged 6 weeks to 3 years
  • Work in conjunction with the Education Director to create lesson plans that integrate all aspects of Early Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC standards, and Illinois Day Care Regulations
  • Create a warm and accepting environment for children, parents, volunteers, community representatives, and staff
  • Serve as a model for GSU students
Requirements
  • At least 19 years of age
  • High School Diploma
  • Awarded a Child Development Associate Credential or equivalent
  • 60 college credits with a minimum of 12 college credits in child development, early childhood education, or early childhood education that encompasses the following: child development and learning of children birth through kindergarten; family and community relationships; observing, documenting, and assessing young children; teaching and learning; and professional practices and development
  • Must be able to speak and write in English
  • Illinois Early Childhood Education Credential Level 1 Credential
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience in a licensed infant/toddler/two's classroom
Work Schedule

The shift is 10 am – 6 pm Monday through Friday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Other hours may be required; occasional evenings and Saturday, notified in advance.
