POSITION OVERVIEW


The Pharmaceutical Care Technician role necessitates meticulous attention to detail, adherence to established protocols, and effective management of the procurement, storage, preparation, and support in the distribution of medications.

Depending on the requirements of the daily shifts, this may involve supervision, verification, and/or the actual processing of medical prescriptions, medication renewals, and new requests.

The Pharmaceutical Care Technician reports to the Pharmaceutical Supervisor and collaborates with colleagues for clarification and support to effectively address the medication needs of the residents.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately dispense and provide assistance with medication for each individual.
  • Ensure consistency between medical prescriptions, blister packs, and medications dispensed for each resident.
  • Guarantee timely and precise medication orders and renewals.
  • Review the medication refill log to compare with medications in storage.
  • Examine no-refill orders in the refill log and communicate requests to medical professionals.
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and documentation of delivered medications.
  • Engage with the Pharmaceutical Supervisor to clarify and ensure entitlements, prescriptions, and deliveries.
  • Maintain comprehensive medical and medication records for all residents in their designated files.
  • Report any residents who missed or declined medications to the supervisor and case management.
  • Participate in all mandatory scheduled training programs.

ADDITIONAL TASKS
Complete all other inherent and logical tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Completion of post-secondary coursework in medical services or a college degree is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in the English language.
  • Familiarity with the needs of the elderly and infirm.
  • Self-motivated and capable of completing tasks within the allotted time.
  • Well-organized and able to work collaboratively with a support team of six individuals.
