Job Summary

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is actively seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible neurosurgeon with specialized skills in complex spinal surgery. This role is designed for a professional who will join a collaborative team of neurosurgeons in a dynamic academic setting.

The selected candidate will primarily concentrate on spine-related procedures while also being involved in general neurosurgery on-call duties.

This position encompasses responsibilities at multiple healthcare facilities, ensuring a diverse clinical experience.

The ideal applicant will have completed fellowship training in spine surgery and possess the capability to implement minimally invasive surgical techniques, as well as manage outpatient spine surgery for select cases.

Preferred candidates may also integrate advanced technological innovations in spine surgery, including robotic techniques, into their practice.

This role includes educational and research obligations, necessitating strong collaboration with neurosurgical and critical care teams.

The position may also entail cranial and trauma neurosurgery on-call responsibilities, contingent on the candidate's preferences.

Qualifications Required
MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree.
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurosurgery with a focus on complex spinal surgery.
Eligibility for licensure in Alabama.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with innovative surgical technologies, including robotic spine surgery, is highly desirable.
