Position Summary

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is in search of a board-certified or board-eligible neurosurgeon specializing in complex spinal procedures. This role is designed for a candidate who will thrive in a collaborative academic setting alongside a team of experienced neurosurgeons.

The selected candidate will primarily concentrate on spinal surgery while also participating in general neurosurgery on-call duties.

This position encompasses responsibilities at multiple medical facilities, including the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center and affiliated hospitals.

The ideal applicant will have completed fellowship training in spine surgery and possess the capability to implement minimally invasive surgical techniques, as well as manage outpatient spine surgeries for selected patients.

Preferred candidates may also integrate advanced technologies in spine surgery, such as robotic-assisted procedures, into their practice.

Teaching and research duties are integral to this position, requiring effective collaboration with neurosurgical and critical care teams. The role may also involve cranial and trauma neurosurgery on-call duties, depending on the candidate's interests.

Required Qualifications
MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree.
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurosurgery with a focus on complex spinal surgery.
