About the Position:

The General Counsel will serve as the chief legal officer of the University, providing strategic legal advice and guidance to the President, the Board of Trustees, and other senior leaders. The General Counsel will be responsible for managing the University's legal affairs, including litigation, contracts, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in higher education law, as well as experience in managing a team of attorneys and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to the President, the Board of Trustees, and other senior leaders
  • Manage the University's legal affairs, including litigation, contracts, and compliance
  • Supervise a team of attorneys and staff
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and implement strategic plans

Requirements:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school
  • At least 10 years of experience in higher education law
  • Experience in managing a team of attorneys and staff
  • Strong background in litigation, contracts, and compliance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
