Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the library's mission and goals, aligning with the University's strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to design and deliver innovative programs, services, and collections that support teaching, learning, and research.
  • Oversee the management of rare book, manuscript, digital collections, and archives, ensuring their preservation, accessibility, and promotion.
  • Lead a team of librarians and staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and expertise.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, stakeholders, and community partners to secure funding, resources, and support for the library's programs and initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in librarianship, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and excellence in the library's services and collections.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Library Science or a related field from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Proven leadership and management experience in a library or related field, with a track record of success in strategic planning, team leadership, and community engagement.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a strong understanding of the importance of creating inclusive and welcoming environments for all users.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong focus on customer service, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Second graduate degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of one or more languages in addition to English.
  • Experience with grant writing and management.
