Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Psychiatry Department, including strategic planning, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and promote a culture of safety and quality.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to advance our mission and improve patient outcomes.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop a talented team of psychiatrists and mental health professionals.
  • Manage departmental finances and resources to ensure effective use of resources and achieve strategic goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in psychiatry and mental health, and apply this knowledge to inform departmental decisions and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Doctorate degree in medicine (MD) or equivalent.
  • Current licensure to practice medicine in the state of Minnesota.
  • Board certification in psychiatry or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of administrative leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Eligibility for an academic appointment at the University of Minnesota.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in leading a psychiatric department or similar healthcare setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and make informed decisions that align with our mission and goals.
  • Knowledge of healthcare policy and regulatory requirements, with the ability to navigate complex systems and ensure compliance.
