Job Overview

Cancer Specialists of North Florida is seeking a skilled Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our dedicated team. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care, education, and support throughout the cancer treatment journey. The APRN will work under the guidance of a physician, adhering to the licensure Scope of Practice, to deliver high-quality care to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations, including psychological assessments, to formulate care plans.
  • Perform clinical procedures such as skin examinations, breast examinations, pelvic examinations, and other necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and treatment continuity.
  • Execute diagnostic procedures, including bone marrow aspirate and biopsy, in partnership with the supervising physician.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory results.
  • Manage pharmacological treatments for patients, addressing both disease processes and treatment side effects.
  • Oversee the clinical management of patients with acute or chronic health issues, including end-of-life care.
  • Develop and implement personalized survivorship care plans, educating patients on their contents.
  • Assess patient eligibility for genetic testing and order appropriate tests.
  • Promote preventive measures and early detection through education for patients, families, and the community.
  • Recognize oncologic emergencies and initiate lifesaving interventions as necessary.
  • Conduct hospital rounds for patient evaluations when required.
  • Provide on-call services during non-office hours on a rotating basis.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist with nursing tasks as needed.
Qualifications

Essential Skills:

  • Expertise in managing the physiological and psychological impacts of cancer.
  • Strong foundation in nursing theory and practice for effective patient assessment and care planning.
  • Familiarity with healthcare policies and procedures relevant to patient care.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.
  • Strong clinical assessment abilities specific to oncology patients and their families.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited nursing program and completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in oncology nursing is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • National board certification as a nurse practitioner from an accredited agency.
  • Current APRN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AONC) certification is preferred.
Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
