This is a three-year term position, with potential for renewal based on project needs and availability of funding.
Key Responsibilities- Independently design, execute, analyze and interpret complex research experiments in association with the Principal Investigator and prepare results for presentations, research grants, proposals and papers.
- Tissue culture and maintenance of cell lines, ensuring proper record keeping, sterility, maintenance, storage and safety of culture work.
- Day-to-day management of the laboratory, monitoring equipment and repair, maintaining stocks of research supplies, cell lines, and stocks, and monitoring lab budget.
- Maintain a complete and detailed record of all experiments, analyze data, and maintain cell lines strains and plasmid stocks.
- Contact vendors for quotes, submit orders, receipt orders, and other matters related to purchasing in the Norris lab.
- Interview, orient, and train laboratory personnel, including technicians, summer and work study students, and assist in preparation of laboratory safety, animal and recombinant DNA protocols as required by the University.
- Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
- Self-motivating and willing to work independently within a team environment.
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds, both assisted and unassisted.
- Communicate effectively via telephone, email, and in person to varied stakeholders.
- Utilize computer technology for all applications in a manner that meets performance expectations.
- Remember, organize, and consistently focus on a large amount of detail and come to appropriate conclusions.
- Sit or stand for long periods of time and use of repetitive actions during the entire work day.
