Research Scientist III

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Professional III to join our team at the University of Georgia's Vaccines & Immun Ctr. As a key member of our research team, you will assist in conducting research procedures in a Biosafety Level 2+ containment environment, perform tissue cultures, immunologic assays, flow cytometry, PCR, DNA cloning in expression vectors, and analysis and purification of recombinant proteins.
Key Responsibilities- Independently design, execute, analyze, and interpret complex research experiments in association with the PI and prepare results for presentations, research grants, proposals, and papers.
- Tissue culture and maintenance of cell lines, ensuring proper record keeping, sterility, maintenance, storage, and safety of culture work.
- Day-to-day management of the laboratory, monitoring equipment, and repairing/maintaining stocks of research supplies, cell lines, and stocks, as well as monitoring lab budget.
- Maintaining a complete and detailed record of all experiments, analyzing data, and maintaining cell lines strains and plasmid stocks.
- Contacting vendors for quotes, submitting orders, receipting orders, and other matters related to purchasing in the Norris lab.
- Interviewing, orienting, and training laboratory personnel, including technicians, summer, and work-study students, and assisting in preparation of laboratory safety, animal, and recombinant DNA protocols as required by the University.
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
