Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Freight Forwarding Agent to join our team at FedEx Logistics. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the timely movement of freight and cargo.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality customer service by developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers and their front-line personnel.
  • Prepare and submit documentation to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to transportation.
  • Anticipate and resolve problems that may delay the release or movement of freight.
  • Maintain relationships with correspondent brokers, T&B, and other service providers to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Resolve banking and letter of credit problems, advise customers on payment terms, and resolve billing issues.
  • Complete accurate data input and corrections into computer files, develop rates and quotes for freight movement, and generate special reports to meet customer needs.
  • Ensure all communication with internal and external customers is timely and accurate.
  • Coordinate freight forwarding functions, including customer booking requests, setting up new shippers, and assisting with restricted articles submissions.
  • Complete import/export documentation in accordance with international trade regulations.
  • Engage with clients on billing disputes, shipment status, and developing new lanes and improving service.
  • Dispatch carriers to pick up at company locations and customer distribution centers, track and trace functions, and work iServe cases.
  • Coordinate oversized and out of gauge shipments, handle Hazmat shipments, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding or logistics.
  • Working knowledge of air export regulations, banking requirements for international trade, and regulations regarding dangerous goods shipping and foreign regulations.
  • Familiarity with handling hazardous materials and knowledge of regulations for import/export related to DOT.
  • Basic math skills for conversions to metric and currency evaluations.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in freight forwarding or logistics or work/field experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • M-F 8am - 5:30pm position reports to Gardena, CA facility.
Pay Transparency

This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations.

If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the salary information represents the job level minimum and the job level maximum.

Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential.
