POSITION SUMMARY

  • Accountable for organizing patient appointments for surgical procedures, pre-admission evaluations, and diagnostic assessments through telephone communication while confirming insurance coverage prior to patient visits.
  • Tasked with relaying authorization details to Pre-registration Financial Counselors utilizing the Paragon system.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. is mandatory.
  • Vocational or Technical College certification is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of one year of experience in the healthcare sector is required.
  • Experience in pre-certification or billing is advantageous.
  • Proficient computer and typing skills are essential.
  • Ability to utilize the numeric keypad for data entry is necessary.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial Insurance regulations.
  • Above-average analytical and organizational skills are required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, communication, and documentation skills are essential.
  • Prior experience in public relations is necessary.
  • Proficient in operating computer systems and business machinery.
  • Ability to engage with patients courteously and maintain excellent telephone communication skills, especially in challenging situations.
  • Must be able to interact with the public professionally and explain patient charges in detail.
  • Exemplary interpersonal communication skills and a professional appearance are required.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Commitment to the Standards of Performance, CRMC's Financial Counseling Mission, and Vision statements.
  • Responsible for accurately identifying patients, creating accounts with precise insurance information, and maintaining an acceptable accuracy rate.
  • Schedule patients through telephone communication with physician offices and/or patients upon receipt of the case sheet in the appropriate information system, ensuring insurance benefits are verified prior to patient arrival.
  • Determine primary insurance responsibility in cases requiring coordination of benefits and obtain necessary prior authorization.
  • Inform the physician's office of any potential delays or changes in the testing schedule.
  • Review the schedule before pre-registering patients to ensure prior authorization has been secured.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all patients and their families, fostering a positive image of CRMC.
