POSITION SUMMARY

  • Accountable for arranging patient appointments for surgical procedures, pre-admission evaluations, and diagnostic assessments through telephone interactions, while confirming insurance coverage prior to patient visits.
  • Tasked with relaying authorization details to Pre-registration Financial Counselors using the Paragon system.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. is mandatory.
  • Vocational or Technical College certification is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of one year of experience in the healthcare sector is required.
  • Experience in pre-certification or billing is advantageous.
  • Above-average computer and typing skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in using the numeric keypad for data entry is necessary.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial Insurance policies.
  • Analytical and organizational skills should be above average.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, communication, and documentation skills are required.
  • Prior experience in public relations is necessary.
  • Proficient in operating computer systems and business machinery.
  • Ability to engage with patients courteously and maintain excellent telephone communication skills, especially in challenging situations.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interpret patient charges clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and a polished appearance are essential.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Demonstrate commitment to the Standards of Performance and the Financial Counseling Mission and Vision of CRMC.
  • Responsible for accurately identifying patients, creating patient accounts with correct insurance details, and maintaining a satisfactory accuracy rate.
  • Schedule patients via telephone communication with physician offices and/or patients upon receipt of the case sheet in the designated information system, ensuring insurance benefits are verified before patient arrival.
  • Determine primary insurance responsibilities in cases requiring coordination of benefits and obtain necessary prior authorization.
  • Inform the physician's office of any potential delays or changes in the testing schedule.
  • Review the schedule prior to patient pre-registration to confirm prior authorization has been secured.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to all patients and their families, promoting a positive image of CRMC.
