We are looking for a candidate who has a profound understanding of the influential circles in San Francisco, from the political corridors of City Hall to the elite social gatherings and the private realms of the tech moguls. The ideal applicant will possess a sharp eye for engaging stories, lifestyle movements, and the key figures shaping the region.
This role requires an appreciation for the cultural subtleties that contribute to the Bay Area's vibrant and multifaceted identity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive Reporting: Investigate and reveal the most compelling narratives at the intersection of wealth and influence, spanning corporate boardrooms and political arenas.
- Feature Development: Create in-depth articles that delve into the enigmatic behaviors of the affluent, their societal implications, and the interpersonal dynamics within their circles.
- Event Reporting: Serve as the discerning observer for significant events and power gatherings, as well as more private meetings among the influential.
- Network Expansion: Build and nurture a robust network of contacts across business, politics, and high society, ensuring a comprehensive grasp of the city's key players.
- Collaborative Storytelling: Work closely with editors, photographers, multimedia specialists, and fellow journalists to transform investigative reports into rich storytelling experiences across various media.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 years of exemplary reporting experience, particularly in the intricate domains of wealth, influence, and power.
- A deep awareness of the subtleties and dynamics of wealth and influence within the Bay Area.
- Exceptional storytelling skills, capable of translating complex financial and power relationships into captivating narratives.
- A proven track record of developing and maintaining a network of sources within business, politics, and high society.
- Familiarity with digital content management systems, social media, and multimedia storytelling techniques.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced news environment.
- A Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related discipline.
This position requires in-person engagement in San Francisco, with occasional commitments during evenings or weekends. We offer a competitive compensation package and benefits.
The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $140,000, with actual compensation determined by various factors unique to each candidate. We encourage applications from individuals who may not meet all preferred qualifications.
