Key Responsibilities- Consult with healthcare professionals to assess nutritional needs and develop comprehensive care plans.
- Provide nutritional counseling and education to residents and their families.
- Monitor food service operations to ensure compliance with nutritional, safety, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to integrate nutrition services with medical goals.
- Evaluate and document the nutritional status of residents using established standards of care guidelines.
- Counsel individuals and groups on healthy eating habits and nutrition monitoring.
- Write diet orders as needed and investigate weight changes in residents.
- Function as a member of the clinical team and participate in care planning meetings.
- Complete assigned MDS portions accurately and on time.
- Follow established safety precautions and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must be a Registered Dietitian or possess a Bachelor of Dietetics degree.
- Completed an accredited Diabetic internship program preferred.
- One year of experience as a Registered Dietitian preferred.
- Knowledge of LARA regulations.
- Knowledge of medical nutrition therapy in a hospital or long-term care facility.
- Ability to communicate effectively and analyze problems.
- Must be able to relate to older adults and work cooperatively with others.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with families, volunteers, and the public.
- Basic computer knowledge required.
