Job Title: Animal Care Specialist

Join the Lincoln County Animal Shelter team as an Animal Care Specialist and make a difference in the lives of animals and the community.

Job Summary

The Animal Care Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the safe and humane care of animals at the shelter, providing excellent customer service to the public, and working directly with the Lincoln County Volunteer program to recruit, train, and maintain active volunteers for shelter work and special events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the well-being and humane treatment of animals at the shelter, including daily care, observation, and treatment of animals for disease and injuries.
  • Assist the public with adoption, lost/found, intake, redemption, and licensing of animals, providing excellent customer service and communicating professionally with volunteers, other shelters, rescue and animal welfare groups, veterinarians, and Sheriff's Office members and co-workers.
  • Work directly with the Lincoln County Volunteer program to recruit, train, and maintain active volunteers for shelter work and special events.
  • Perform data entry of records pertaining to animals being received, adopted, redeemed, euthanized, and licensed, including maintaining paperwork and proper ID for animals in the kennel area, creating reports, and responsible for appropriate handling and accounting of monies collected.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Certifications: Must obtain certificate issued by the State of Oregon to perform euthanasia within one year of employment
  • Driver's License: Oregon Driver's License required, with an insurable driving record and a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of appointment
