We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an On Call Youth Care Specialist. As a key member of our juvenile shelter staff, you will provide professional care and monitoring of youth activities in a multiple purpose Juvenile Shelter or Detention Facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the daily activities of youth, ensuring their physical safety, nourishment, cleanliness, and supervision.
  • Monitor facility diligently to ensure against youth misconduct, runaways, safety hazards, accidents, or fire.
  • Confront consequences and redirects youth in a positive manner using trauma-informed care principles.
  • Perform initial 24-hour intake screening duties for all youth referred during shift.
  • Transport youth as needed.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Certification(s) required: Food Handler's Certificate; Certified in First Aid and CPR
  • Oregon Driver's License required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI)
  • Experience working with youth, preferably in a group or correctional setting
Working Conditions:

This position requires evening meetings, long work hours, working extended hours and on-call status, and exposure to physically violent people. Requires dealing with angry and/or distraught people. Requires transporting youth alone, and travel within and outside the County on a regular basis.
