Position Overview:
As the Director of Food Services, you will oversee and direct all food service activities within a correctional institution. This pivotal role demands exceptional leadership, organizational capabilities, and a comprehensive understanding of food safety and institutional food service management.

Your primary responsibility is to ensure the provision of safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals to inmates. Your expertise in leadership and management is crucial for upholding operational standards, adhering to regulations, and creating a positive food service atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise meal preparation, cooking, and serving to guarantee quality, portion control, and compliance with nutritional standards.
  • Oversee food production processes to ensure consistency and minimize waste.
  • Manage inventory levels of food, supplies, and equipment efficiently.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of food products.
  • Administer budgets related to food costs, labor, and supplies.
  • Implement cost-effective strategies while maintaining high food service standards.
  • Train and supervise kitchen personnel and food service staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and ensure adherence to safety and operational protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including HACCP guidelines.
  • Perform regular inspections to uphold cleanliness and food safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records related to food inventory, production, and expenditures.
  • Prepare reports and engage in meetings with facility management.
  • Foster positive relationships with facility staff, inmates, and food service employees.
  • Address concerns and resolve issues to ensure satisfaction with food service operations.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Food Management/Safety or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate within a secure corrections environment.
  • Proven knowledge of food preparation principles, cooking methods, and food safety regulations.
  • Must obtain food safety certification.
  • Demonstrated basic math and counting skills.
  • Experience in food service management, ideally in a correctional setting.
  • Knowledge of nutrition, dietary guidelines, and food safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.

Working Conditions:

  • Work environment is within a correctional facility, necessitating adherence to strict security protocols.
  • Flexible hours may be required to oversee meal preparation and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Physical capability to stand, lift, and move food supplies and equipment as necessary.

Salary Range:
$48,000 - $56,000
