Certified Nursing Aide

Position Overview
The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver essential daily care and services to assigned residents, following their individualized assessment and care plans, while adhering to the directives provided by supervisory staff.
Authority and Accountability
As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you are entrusted with the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary to execute your designated tasks effectively.

While the following duties outline the core responsibilities of this position, it is understood that additional tasks may be required as necessary.
Administrative Duties
Utilize identification methods to confirm resident identities prior to administering treatments or serving meals.
Maintain accurate records on flow sheets, notes, and charts in a clear and informative manner.
Use only approved abbreviations when documenting information.
Promptly report any changes in residents' conditions to the Nurse Supervisor or Charge Nurse.
Document all incidents and accidents observed during your shift.
Admission and Transfer Duties
Prepare the resident's room for their arrival, ensuring all necessary items are in place.
Welcome residents and assist them to their rooms.
Introduce residents to their roommates and other staff as appropriate.
Inventory and label residents' personal belongings as directed.
Assist residents with packing and transferring their personal items when necessary.
Facilitate the transfer of residents to new rooms or designated areas.
Personnel Responsibilities
Complete all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure comprehensive nursing services.
Foster a warm and positive atmosphere while maintaining a calm environment throughout the unit.
Regularly meet with nursing staff to identify and address any service improvement areas.
Address any complaints or grievances raised by residents.
Notify the facility of any tardiness or absences in advance.
Report any occupational exposures to hazardous materials to your supervisor.
Personal Care Responsibilities
Participate in nursing reports at the beginning of your shift.
Assist residents with daily hygiene tasks, including dental care and bathing.
Provide assistance with dressing and grooming as needed.
Ensure residents are comfortable and dry, changing linens and gowns as necessary.
Assist residents with mobility and personal care needs, including toileting and transportation.
Monitor and document residents' health metrics as instructed.
Respond promptly to resident call bells and check on those unable to call for assistance.
Provide compassionate care to residents at the end of life and during post-mortem care as directed.
Food Service Responsibilities
Prepare residents for meals and assist with feeding as required.
Document residents' food and fluid intake and report any changes in eating habits.
Ensure residents have access to fresh water and snacks as needed.
Training and Development
Participate in ongoing training and educational programs to maintain certification.
Attend in-service training sessions on safety and health protocols.
Safety and Sanitation
Follow established safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
Report any safety hazards or equipment issues to supervisory staff immediately.
Equipment Management
Use only equipment you are trained to operate and report any malfunctions.
Care Plan Adherence
Review care plans regularly to ensure compliance with residents' care needs.
Respect for Residents' Rights
Uphold the confidentiality of all resident information and treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
Work Environment
This position requires movement throughout the facility and interaction with various individuals under diverse conditions.
Qualifications
A minimum of an 8th-grade education is required, along with certification as a Nursing Assistant in accordance with state regulations.
Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in English and demonstrate a compassionate approach to care.
