The main objective of this role is to deliver consistent daily assistance and care to each resident assigned to you, adhering to their individual assessments and care plans, while following directives from your supervisors.
Authority Delegation
As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you are entrusted with the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability essential for executing your designated tasks.
Key Responsibilities
While every effort has been made to outline the primary responsibilities of this position, it is important to note that this does not imply that these are the only tasks you will be expected to perform. The absence of specific duties does not exclude them from your role if they are similar, related, or integral to the position.
Administrative Duties
Utilize identification methods such as wristbands or photo cards to confirm resident identities before administering treatments or serving meals.
Document all relevant information on flow sheets, notes, and charts in a clear and descriptive manner.
Employ only authorized abbreviations as established by the facility when recording information.
Communicate any changes in a resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor or Charge Nurse promptly.
Report any accidents or incidents observed during your shift immediately.
Admission, Transfer, and Discharge Responsibilities
Prepare the resident's room for their arrival, ensuring that all necessary items are in place.
Welcome residents and guide them to their rooms.
Introduce residents to their roommates and other staff members as appropriate.
Inventory and label residents' personal belongings as instructed.
Assist residents with packing their belongings during transfers or discharges.
Help transport residents to new rooms or designated areas as needed.
Assist with loading and unloading residents from vehicles when necessary.
Personnel Responsibilities
Carry out all assigned tasks in line with established policies and procedures as directed by your supervisors.
Adhere to work assignments and schedules to complete your designated tasks.
Collaborate with inter-departmental staff and other facility personnel to ensure that nursing services meet residents' needs effectively.
Foster an environment of warmth, personal interest, and positivity, while maintaining a calm atmosphere throughout your shift.
Regularly meet with nursing personnel to identify and address any areas for improvement in service delivery.
Document and report any complaints or grievances made by residents.
Notify the facility in advance if you will be late or absent from work.
Report any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or hazardous materials to your supervisor.
Personal Care Responsibilities
Participate in nursing reports upon starting your shift.
Follow established protocols regarding exposure to blood and body fluids.
Assist residents with daily oral hygiene and bathing as directed.
Provide assistance with dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene tasks.
Maintain cleanliness and comfort for residents, ensuring their personal care needs are met.
Monitor and document residents' health status, including vital signs and any changes in condition.
Assist with mobility and transportation of residents to appointments and activities.
Provide emotional support and companionship to residents as needed.
Food Service Responsibilities
Prepare residents for meals and assist with feeding as necessary.
Ensure that residents have access to fresh water and snacks throughout the day.
Perform after-meal care, including cleaning and assisting residents with personal hygiene.
Safety and Sanitation Responsibilities
Follow established safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas of the facility.
Report any safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate personnel immediately.
Qualifications
A minimum of an 8th-grade education is required.
Must be a State Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with applicable laws.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with others.
A commitment to providing compassionate care and maintaining residents' dignity is essential.
