As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you are entrusted with the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability required to fulfill your designated tasks.
Key Responsibilities

Administrative Duties
Utilize identification methods to confirm resident identities prior to administering treatments or serving meals.
Document all relevant information on flow sheets, notes, and charts in a clear and detailed manner.
Employ only approved abbreviations when recording information.
Communicate any changes in resident conditions to the Nurse Supervisor or Charge Nurse promptly.
Report any incidents or accidents observed during your shift immediately.
Admission, Transfer, and Discharge Duties
Prepare the resident's room for their arrival, ensuring all necessary items are in place.
Welcome residents and guide them to their accommodations.
Introduce residents to their roommates and other personnel as appropriate.
Inventory and label residents' personal belongings as instructed.
Assist residents in packing their belongings during transfers or discharges.
Facilitate the transfer of residents to new rooms or designated areas.
Personnel Responsibilities
Carry out assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures, as directed by supervisors.
Follow work schedules and assignments diligently.
Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure that nursing services meet residents' needs effectively.
Foster a warm and supportive atmosphere, maintaining a calm environment throughout the unit.
Participate in regular meetings with nursing staff to identify and address service improvement areas.
Document and report any resident complaints or grievances.
Notify the facility of any tardiness or absences in advance.
Report any exposure to hazardous materials to your supervisor.
Personal Care Responsibilities
Engage in nursing report discussions upon starting your shift.
Adhere to policies regarding exposure to bodily fluids.
Assist residents with daily hygiene routines, including dental care and bathing.
Provide support with dressing and grooming as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and comfort for residents, ensuring their personal care needs are met.
Monitor and document residents' health metrics as instructed.
Assist with mobility and transportation to appointments and activities.
Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
Food Service Responsibilities
Prepare residents for meals and assist with dining as necessary.
Record residents' food and fluid intake, reporting any changes in eating habits.
Ensure residents have access to fresh water and snacks throughout the day.
Training and Development
Participate in ongoing training and educational programs to maintain certification.
Attend required in-service training sessions on safety and health protocols.
Safety and Sanitation Duties
Follow safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for residents.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in resident areas and equipment.

Qualifications
A minimum of an 8th-grade education is required.
Must be a State Certified Nursing Assistant as per New York regulations.
