Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a Neurosurgery Specialist to enhance our team. This role is vital in delivering high-quality healthcare services within our network. The primary responsibility of the Neurosurgery Specialist is to deliver comprehensive and compassionate care to patients. Working under the guidance of the Department Chairperson, the physician will exercise independent judgment and initiative while being an essential member of the medical team. This position entails leading healthcare delivery and supervising advanced practice practitioners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient examinations and order or perform necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Develop diagnoses, direct or perform appropriate therapeutic interventions, and provide patient counseling.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Ensure timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Manage surgical conditions affecting the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves.
  • Deliver comprehensive, compassionate care to all patients.
  • Assist in quality management initiatives within the neurosurgery division.
  • Oversee physician assistants and residents.
  • Provide clinical direction to house staff and other healthcare team members.
  • Mentor less experienced medical staff.
  • Uphold knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of performance standards for medical professionals.
  • Commit to achieving facility performance indicators.
  • Maintain required credentials, licensure, and continuing medical education (CME) obligations.
  • Perform additional administrative and consultative duties as assigned by the Department Chairperson.
  • Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with Employee Health requirements.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in the relevant specialty.
  • Valid medical license to practice in New York State.
  • Possession of a valid DEA License.
  • Current Board Certification from The American Board of Neurological Surgery or eligibility for certification within five years of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent bedside manner.
