The primary responsibility of the Neurosurgery Specialist is to deliver comprehensive and compassionate care to our patients. Working under the guidance of the Department Chairperson, the Staff Physician will have significant autonomy in clinical decision-making and will play a crucial role in the healthcare team. Responsibilities include overseeing advanced practice practitioners and ensuring high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough patient examinations and order necessary diagnostic tests.
- Develop accurate diagnoses and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborate with fellow healthcare professionals as required.
- Ensure timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record.
- Manage surgical conditions affecting the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves.
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to all patients.
- Contribute to the quality management of the neurosurgery division.
- Supervise physician assistants and residents.
- Provide clinical mentorship to junior medical staff.
- Uphold knowledge of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and security.
- Assist in establishing performance standards for medical staff.
- Commit to achieving facility performance indicators.
- Maintain necessary credentials, licensure, and continuing medical education (CME) requirements.
- Perform additional administrative and consultative duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and departmental procedures.
- Comply with Employee Health requirements.
- Graduation from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of a residency program in neurosurgery.
- Valid medical license to practice in New York State.
- Possession of a valid DEA License.
- Current Board Certification from The American Board of Neurological Surgery or eligibility for certification within five years of hire.
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent bedside manner.
