Position Overview
The Staff Neurosurgeon plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal delivery of care within the Neurosurgery Section, while adhering to compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Neurosurgeon is responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating patients with various neurological disorders, malformations, diseases, and injuries. This position operates within a Whole Health System of care, which emphasizes personalized health plans for each Veteran, fostering healing relationships and environments.
The Neurosurgeon will:
1. Perform surgical procedures in the operating room and provide clinical services within the Neurosurgery Section.
2. Conduct outpatient surgical procedures and manage clinic duties, including consultations for both new and established patients.
3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance comprehensive patient care.
Clinical Duties
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments in outpatient settings.
- Performing evaluations and ordering diagnostic tests to make informed treatment decisions.
- Documenting treatment accurately using electronic medical records.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Professional Development
The Neurosurgeon will also engage in administrative and academic components of the specialty, providing training and supervision for mid-level providers.
