Position: Environmental Analytical Scientist

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Security Clearance: Willingness to obtain CDC Public Trust

Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000

The salary range provided reflects the expected compensation for this role; however, final offers will consider various factors including responsibilities, candidate qualifications, geographical location, and current market trends.

This position requires U.S. Citizenship.

Key Responsibilities:

Selected candidates will perform laboratory assessments to analyze environmental or organic substances, chemical or radiological hazards, metals, toxins, nutrients, or various biomarkers in biological specimens gathered from diverse studies. This will involve utilizing advanced analytical techniques and instrumentation such as clinical chemistry analyzers and LC-MS/MS.

  • Design, execute, and refine comprehensive quantitative analysis methodologies.
  • Utilize expertise in biological sample management, instrument operation, maintenance, and data interpretation.
  • Implement analytical techniques in studies supported by the DLS while adhering to Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) standards and regulations.
  • Conduct data analysis, evaluation, and interpretation using sophisticated software tools.
  • Apply quality assurance and control measures for accurate reporting and dissemination of study findings.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate results clearly.
  • Contribute to the preparation of both oral and written presentations.
  • Assist in the review, updating, and maintenance of standardization protocols.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering with a minimum of 30 semester hours in chemistry, along with at least one year of laboratory experience.

Or

Master's degree in chemistry, physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering with relevant laboratory experience during the course of study.

  • Experience in chemical and analytical laboratory environments.
  • Familiarity with analytical chemistry techniques including mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, solid phase microextraction, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
  • Detail-oriented approach to all tasks.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Clearance.
