Job Summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Leader to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leading our nursing team to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performance Improvement/Evidence-Based Practice/Nursing Research:
    • Demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based practice within the practice area and identify opportunities for performance improvement.
    • Participate and utilize the performance improvement process to improve clinical practice.
    • Complete at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to the Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the unit.
  • Oversight of Nursing Personnel:
    • Assume responsibility and accountability for oversight of nursing and non-nursing personnel on a unit.
    • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills with team members and patients/families.
    • Function as a leader with the ability to act as a resource person (both clinically and non-clinically) for nursing personnel, physicians, and providers.
    • In collaboration with the Nurse Manager/Director, investigate and resolve patient/family/significant other complaints.
    • Provide leadership by delegating appropriate responsibilities to assigned nurses and ancillary personnel.
    • Collaborate with others in both the internal and external environment to promote/ensure optimal care for the patient.
    • Assess clinical expertise of nursing personnel, monitoring assignments and providing feedback and documentation to both team members and/or Nurse Manager.
    • Assess the needs and provide recommendations regarding team member clinical education to the Clinical Resource Nurse/Educator/Clinical Nurse Specialist.
    • Complete performance appraisals for direct reports and assist Nurse Manager with performance appraisals for other team members on the unit.
    • Manage the performance of team members with the support of the Nurse Manager.
    • Coordinate daily huddles and Care team rounds in order to drive the plan of care, identify and remove barriers, and assist with care transitions for all patients on the unit.
  • Participates in Unit-Specific and System-Wide Responsibilities:
    • Perform daily leader rounding, and assure that team members are regularly rounding on all patients to assure their comfort.
    • Develop programs and strategies to monitor the quality of patient care and patient outcomes.
    • Assist Nurse Manager in developing, justifying, and implementing the long-term staffing pattern, personnel needs, budget negotiation, and recruitment plan.
    • Participate in organizational compliance audits or if delegated, hold team members accountable for completion.
    • Attend all required educational programs and participate in supervisory team member education and training programs as required.
    • Demonstrate clinical competency in the area of specialty and assist in completion of competency for other team members as needed.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certification in the area of specialty by a National Accrediting Organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and behaviors.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
